What exactly is a Turbo Blower?

A turbo blower, also known as a turbine blower, uses a high-speed impeller to compress air. To achieve high turbo speeds, turbo blowers have traditionally used ordinary motors and gearing, adding complexity and maintenance-intensive elements for regulating air flows using guiding vanes.

The energy is delivered to air or gas from a revolving shaft. Adding kinetic energy to a continuous flow of air via the rotor or impeller causes a pressure increase.

The pressure ratio of a turbo blower is lower than that of a turbo compressor, which is more than 2.5.

There are several generations of turbo blower, the latest technology turbo blowers are airfoil bearing turbo blower and magnetic bearing turbo blower.

It is also called turbo fan, there is an explanation in Wikipedia about turbo fan, could help us to understand it.

Relative Words: Centrifugal Blower

Centrifugal Blower, also known as a centrifugal fan, is a mechanical device that moves air or other gases at an angle to the incoming fluid, according to Wikipedia. Centrifugal fans frequently include a ducted housing that directs outgoing air in a certain direction or across a heat sink; this type of fan is also known as a blower, blower fan, biscuit blower, or squirrel-cage fan. The revolving impellers of these fans improve the speed and volume of an airstream.

Turbo blower’s character

Its processing precision is exceptionally high, and its dynamic balance may be as low as 0.02g. The pressure of this fan reaches 1000 mbar, which is several times the pressure of a centrifugal blower, although the flow velocity is much lower than that of a centrifugal fan. The fan is also many times smaller, and the R&D process is enhanced at the price of flow.

Centrifugal Blower Classification

According to the kind of fan drive, centrifugal blowers are divided as direct drive centrifugal blower fans and belt drive centrifugal blower fans.

Direct Drive Air Blower

As Wikipedia explained, the fan wheel can be linked directly to the shaft of an electric motor. This means that the fan wheel speed is identical to the motor’s rotational speed. With this type of fan drive mechanism, the fan speed cannot be varied unless the motor speed is adjustable. Air conditioning automatically provides faster speed because colder air is denser.

Belt drive centrifugal blower

As Wikipedia explained, a set of sheaves is mounted on the motor shaft and the fan wheel shaft, and a belt transmits the mechanical energy from the motor to the fan.

The fan wheel speed is determined by the ratio of the diameter of the motor sheave to the diameter of the fan wheel sheave and may be calculated using this equation.

Fan wheel speeds in belt-driven fans are fixed unless the belt(s) slide. Belt slippage can limit fan wheel speed by several hundred revolutions per minute (RPM).

Of course, when compared to these two varieties, the Direct drive centrifugal blower fan is more efficient and represents innovative technology.
